Since 2013, they’ve connected over 500,000 people across the country at some of Britain’s most loved & iconic cultural spaces, from the Royal Albert Hall, Wembley Stadium, and Trafalgar Square, to our regional events at BALTIC Museum, Bradford’s Centenary Square, Coventry Cathedral and many more!

Over 75,000 people took part in the Naz Legacy virtual iftars series during Ramadan via Zoom, Facebook and Muslim media channels in the UK. The events organised by the Naz Legacy Foundation brought together for the first time all the UK’s major faith leaders including the Archbishop of Canterbury, Chief Rabbi, Cardinal Nichols and Bishop of London and Imam Mahmoud, the Hero Imam from the Mosque terror attack in Finsbury Park, all at one iftar as well as HRH Prince of Wales and leading members of the Government and Opposition including Sadiq Khan Mayor of London, Dominic Raab Foreign Secretary, Keir Starmer Leader of the Opposition, Matt Hancock Heath Secretary and more.

The British Asian Trust, in partnership with Deliveroo, Uber Eats, BT and Cobra Beer has launched a nationwide fundraising campaign bringing the nation together under lockdown to support those most in need across South Asia, as well as rejuvenate the UK’s local takeaway businesses. The Big Curry Night In, taking place from 22nd– 31stMay, will be encouraging the general public toorder a curry from their local restaurant or prepare their own curry at home in celebration of the nation’s favourite take away meal. Households can share their meal virtually with loved ones and friends in other households via video calling and social media. The initiative will help support the UK’s restaurant industry during the national health crisis as well as raise vital funds for families struggling in South Asia. Dr Bhasha Mukherjee, the first south Asian woman to be crowned Miss England, has donated the “Ellie Wilde” dress she wore for her entry photo to the Miss World pageant in December, as well as a number of other items, in support of women in one the most disaster-prone places on earth. The sleeveless designer gown has a plunging V-neck, sheer bodice with lace appliques and stone accents and is expected to raise a considerable amount at auction. All money raised from the sale of women’s clothes and accessories donated to British Red Cross charity shops before 31 March will go towards the It starts with her campaign, a UK-government backed drive to help women in slum communities in Barishal, Bangladesh. The meal was attended by Barnardo’s Chief Executive Javed Khan and an array of popular celebrities and media personalities from the British Asian community who took part in #FastForADay.
Participants in the campaign included British boxing champion Amir Khan, Pakistani music star Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, YouTube star Humza Arshad, Bhangra music star Juggy D, British R&B star Arjun, BBC presenter Sonali Shah, Sky News’ Ashish Joshi, BBC Asian Network’s Panjabi Hit Squad, urban music star Mumzy Stranger and presenters Anushka Arora and Natasha Asghar. Attending the Eid dinner last night were more of the campaign’s participants such as chart-topping music producer Naughty Boy, Hijabi model Mariah Idrissi, British Bhangra star H-Dhami, ‘Bend It Like Beckham’ and ‘Eastenders’ actor Ameet Chana, TV and radio presenter Suzi Mann, comedian Islah Rahman, stylist Anisha Vasani and fashion designer Saran Kohli. #FastForADay, a month-long campaign during Ramadan, was an initiative to highlight some of Barnardo’s important work with children from all communities and faith groups.
