Directed by Reema Kagti and written by Varun Grover, The Superboys of Malegaon (India, 2024) is more than just a film - it’s a love letter to cinema, creativity, and community. With standout performances by Adarsh Gourav, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Shashank Arora, the film captures the spirit of grassroots filmmaking in the most unexpected of places.


Set in the town of Malegaon, just six hours from Mumbai yet worlds apart in opportunity, the film follows the true story of Nasir Shaikh - an amateur filmmaker whose obsession with movies sparks a local revolution. In a place where Bollywood offers a dreamlike escape from daily hardships, Nasir dares to bring that dream home. He rallies a group of friends and sets out to make a film for his community, by his community. The result is not only a homegrown cinematic movement but also a deeply touching portrait of friendship, resilience, and the power of storytelling.


The film, presented courtesy of Amazon MGM Studios, pays tribute to the DIY spirit of filmmaking and to those who, despite limited resources, tell their stories with unmatched authenticity and joy.
